Semaglutide Weight Loss
Semaglutide hits the root of the issue: it acts like a gut hormone, allowing you to achieve satiety more quickly and stay satiated for longer periods after eating. Murrells Inlet has many patients that feel as though they've already tried it all: different diets, different weight loss programs, and countless acts of willpower, but semaglutide is often the first thing to truly stick. For many, the cravings start to subside within several weeks. If you feel as though you've been struggling to make progress, reach out to our team for a consultation to determine whether you could be a candidate for semaglutide. Tirzepatide Weight Loss
Tirzepatide is a more recent weight-loss medication that works similarly to semaglutide, except it targets two gut hormones: GLP-1 and GIP. For many patients along the Grand Strand who may have tried semaglutide but did not see the results they hoped, tirzepatide may be the difference. Clinical studies have reported that some participants were able to lose over 20 percent of their initial body weight, which is a significant change. In some cases, those who saw little to no results with semaglutide find the opposite with tirzepatide. We can help you find out if tirzepatide is a good choice for your weight loss journey. Medically Supervised Weight Loss
Medically supervised weight loss is completely different from an online diet you find.
When seeing a weight loss doctor who actually specializes in the area, patients get clinically accurate assessments, pharmaceutical grade drugs, and constant monitoring. It begins with a physical and blood test. Your doctors will evaluate your thyroid health, metabolism, insulin resistance, and hormone levels. We've had many patients come into our office that struggled with low functioning thyroid and insulin resistance for years without a clue as to why they were not losing weight. It was not lack of effort. It was their biology.
The weight loss medications that our doctors recommend, including semaglutide, tirzepatide, and phentermine must be closely monitored, dose appropriately adjusted, and potential side effects checked. You cannot do this on your own, and many other online services don't do a good job of monitoring their patients. This service is available to you at Murrells Inlet Medical and Wellness and we'll be checking in on your progress.
A medical grade nutritional program is far more than a PDF diet list from Google. Nutrition in a medical program includes your dietary restrictions, medical history, and lifestyle. If you have spent much time on the coast, you're aware of the amazing fresh shrimp, fish, and oysters that are locally sourced. When creating an effective meal plan, you need a doctor or nutritionist to work with you that will show you how to enjoy your diet of choice at a restaurant in Murrells Inlet, at the MarshWalk for example. The advice you will hear in Murrells Inlet Medical and Wellness will be the only nutrition plan that lasts.
Hormone levels are much more critical in your weight loss journey than most people realize. Declining testosterone, estrogen, or progesterone create a state where the body naturally moves to hold onto more fat around the midsection, creating a very hard to lose body mass.
For many of our patients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, a large portion of our patient population, hormone optimization is not optional; it can be the missing link that makes the difference between staying on track and falling off of it. Getting the hormone levels back in a healthy range can bring energy back, help patients to sleep better and lose fat more easily.
This is an argument for safety. Every element of this program is monitored by someone who understands the effects of rapid weight loss on cardiovascular health, the liver, the kidneys, and more. For patients with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or sleep apnea, this medical oversight is not an added benefit. It is the entire reason. Weight Loss Consultation
Your personalized plan begins with a conversation. You and your provider will discuss your history, review your goals, and identify appropriate lab tests during your first visit at our Murrells Inlet location. We won't tell you what to think, but you will leave with a real understanding of what is actually achievable and what a successful strategy for your weight loss would look like, not for some abstract statistic. We regularly have patients drive in from the surrounding areas of Inlet Square and Garden City that say their first visit with us was a true game changer. Get in touch with us today so you can start to see what's going on with your body. [FUTURE_SERVICE_PAGE_LINK: Weight Loss Consultation]

Phentermine Prescription
It decreases your appetite. It's simple. Phentermine is not for every patient, as those with certain cardiovascular risk factors cannot take it, but for the right person, it could help start a weight loss that carries over into the next stage of the program. If phentermine is the right medication to fit your bloodwork results, we will write you a prescription. Phentermine has been used by several of our patients from Wachesaw to lose weight while on a larger weight loss plan. We monitor how you respond and adjust our treatment plan as needed. Lipotropic Injections
These injections work to support the liver's capacity to breakdown and metabolize fat. The blend, which includes methionine, inositol, choline, and B vitamins, is more effective when your diet and exercise habits are already on track. They are not a magic bullet, they are a supplement. They appeal to patients that are already very active, like the ones kayaking the salt marshes regularly or walking the MarshWalk, and looking for support to match this level of activity. Lipotropic injections can fit in just about any healthy regimen. If you think that it might make sense for you to add them to your current treatment, let us know. Vitamin B12 Injections
A Vitamin B12 deficiency isn't as rare as you might think. It becomes especially common after age 40. When levels are low, it can produce symptoms of fatigue, mental fog, or a lack of energy and can make your metabolism slow down, making it difficult for patients to complete a successful weight loss regimen. Some patients do take vitamin B12 via oral supplements; however, injections provide an even greater advantage because the nutrient is placed directly into the bloodstream and there is no digestive breakdown or absorption time to wait out. Many of our Litchfield Beach patients have added weekly B12 shots to their treatment plan, and we've heard back to say that they feel like themselves for the first time in a while. That energy can be a when you're trying to get healthy. [FUTURE_SERVICE_PAGE_LINK: Vitamin B12 Injections]

Non-Surgical Weight Loss
No surgery. No recovery time. A plan you can really stick to.
Our non-surgical weight loss program combines FDA-approved medications with nutrition counseling and ongoing monitoring to get you results, no operating room required. This option is especially useful for patients who may not be good candidates for bariatric surgery, or for those who prefer to go this route rather than surgery. We often are astounded at the amount of progress some people can make with a medically managed plan alone. If you are curious what non-surgical options might look like for you specifically, we'd love to speak with you in a consultation. [FUTURE_SERVICE_PAGE_LINK: Non-Surgical Weight Loss]
Weight Loss Coaching
Accountability changes everything. Seriously.
Weight loss coaching provides a consistent check-in between appointments, someone who knows your plan, knows your history and has helped you with setbacks before they became deal breakers. Plateaus happen. Life gets in the way. Having someone on your side who you can work through real-time adjustments with is so different from just waiting until your next appointment to figure out why things may have fallen apart. Coaching doesn't offer the same as generic wellness advice; it is support that is built around you and your specific medical weight loss program. We've seen over and over that patients who also receive coaching stick with it longer and do better long-term than just those who receive medical care alone. Body Composition Analysis
The scale is not always your friend, and sometimes it's not at all, and this could ruin your progress.

Our body composition analysis separates out your weight into its constituent parts, namely your lean muscle, body fat, water weight, visceral fat, and bone density. That gives us a complete picture rather than a single number which doesn't give us a whole lot of information. We have had patients who are walking regularly, doing everything right and just discouraged because their weight hasn't budged. A body composition analysis has shown them they've lost many pounds of fat while gaining lean muscle. They've been making progress! They just couldn't see it without the right tool.
Bioelectrical impedance is what we utilize in our office to perform a body composition analysis. It uses a mild electrical current and measures how tissues respond differently. Fat, lean muscle, and water each conduct electricity at different rates, allowing the machine to calculate an accurate ratio of body fat and lean mass. It's simple, quick, and painless, and the data is highly actionable. DEXA scans provide another method, creating an intricate map of how body fat is specifically distributed throughout the body. Both tools provide useful information depending on what we're hoping to discover.
One thing that most people do not consider, that we absolutely do, is visceral fat. This is the fat that wraps around organs, like your liver, pancreas, and intestines, that unlike the fat that lies under your skin, is metabolically active. It's connected to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation. For those folks who enjoy the seafood houses on Business 17 (and who doesn't?) visceral fat may build up in their bodies for years before they gain any significant amount of weight. It needs to be caught early.
If we have a reading on your lean muscle mass we can give a reading on your body metabolism instead of guessing like a calculator app can. Your calorie and protein intake is then determined by your own personal physiology. This gives you the advantage when it comes to losing weight, and energy while you're paddling around in the marsh on your kayak or riding around on the bike path on Highway 17.
The Body composition is rechecked every 4 to 6 weeks, showing progress the scale doesn't. These checkups also keep you motivated as they tell us what you need. When you lose lean muscle along with body fat we add protein intake or resistance training. When body fat loss has slowed it tells us what you need to change. For women a healthy body fat is anywhere from 18 to 28 percent and men anywhere from 10 to 20 percent. [FUTURE_SERVICE_PAGE_LINK: Body Composition Analysis]
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about weight loss service services in Murrells Inlet
What happens at my first weight loss visit in Murrells Inlet?
Your first visit is a real conversation about your health history, goals, and what lab work makes sense for you. We review bloodwork like thyroid function, metabolic markers, and hormone levels. You leave knowing what is actually going on with your body and what a realistic path looks like. No pressure, no generic script — just honest answers.
What is the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?
Semaglutide targets one gut hormone, while tirzepatide targets two — GLP-1 and GIP. That difference matters. Some patients try semaglutide first and feel like it is not quite working. Tirzepatide is often the option that finally moves things for those people. A short consultation helps us figure out which one fits your health picture.
Do I need medical supervision for a weight loss medication?
Yes, medications like semaglutide, tirzepatide, and phentermine require proper dosing, monitoring, and adjustments as your body responds. A telehealth app does not do that well. We handle it here in Murrells Inlet with follow-up built into your plan from day one. Safety monitoring matters especially if you manage blood pressure, diabetes, or sleep apnea.
Can the coastal lifestyle in Murrells Inlet actually help with weight loss?
It can, and we help you use it. Fresh shrimp, flounder, and oysters are lean proteins that work well in a solid eating plan. Patients who walk the MarshWalk or kayak the salt marshes regularly already have activity on their side. We help you build around your real life here — including eating out along the MarshWalk without losing progress.
Are vitamin B12 injections better than oral supplements?
Injections go straight into your bloodstream, so there is no guessing about absorption. Oral supplements help some people but not everyone. Low B12 causes fatigue, brain fog, and a metabolism that feels stuck — all things that make sticking to a plan harder. Patients who add weekly B12 shots often say they finally feel like themselves again.
Is phentermine safe for everyone who wants to lose weight?
Phentermine is not right for everyone. Patients with certain cardiovascular risk factors are not good candidates. We run bloodwork first to confirm it is a safe fit for you. For the right person, it can jumpstart early progress and build real momentum. We watch your response closely and adjust the plan as you go.
